Regulators! Mount up.

That's from Young Guns, it's a classic. Pretty random I know but that's probably a good theme for this pictorial sampling of the last month. It's been awhile since our last post and it's been an exciting and productive one for Ginny.

A month ago she learned to stay sitting up by herself. She visited Seaworld with her cousin Elliott and Uncle Dex and Auntie Jess. Check out those series of pictures and you'll get a nice shot of the two of them dripping wet after riding the Journey to Atlantis coaster.

She met Brad and Karen for the first time and got to hear how her Unkie Brad can make a slow cooker meal that will last them a week. She learned to master bouncing around in her jumper. She also got to taste something other than milk- bubble gum! She got a little bug a week or so ago and she got prescribed some bubble gum flavored medicine.

Ginny also got her first picture with Minnie Mouse (we tried to get one in an earlier visit when her Aunt Emie took her to Minnie's house in ToonTown, but that didn't work out). You'll also see a bunch of pix with Ginny playing it cool with her awesome shades.

Finally, Ginny got to meet 5 other babies all at once at the Baby Reunion! The Reunion got together most of the parents (and of course our babies) from the Bradley Class Missi and I took. It was a lot of fun and we were able to get a group photo of the baby attendees. Of course, true to our teacher's prediction there was one baby crying during the photo shoot and it happened to be Ginny. She's still a cutie.

So, the next couple weeks are gonna be exciting and we hope to be more proactive about posting. Here's a quick teaser of some of our anticipated post topics: "The Easter Bunny-Impervious to Spit Up?", "Ginny's First Swimming Lesson!", and "6 Months Old and Solid Food!"

4 Months Old

Ginny had her four month checkup today, and the doctor gave her a big thumbs up! She is in the 75-90th percentile for height (25.25 inches) and 50th percentile for weight (14 pounds, 4 ounces) and head circumference. She was very brave through her shots and calmed down relatively quickly after it. She took a nap to cope with all the trauma. They even gave her sparkly silver band-aids, so I'm telling everyone that I bought her at Nordstrom's today! LOL!

Oh, and the doctor said he could see the top teeth start to come in. That would explain all of the drool...

Ginny is still working on crawling and sitting up on her own. She loves to sit in her activity center that Lola and Lolo bought her and the doorway jumper that Auntie Em bought her. Speaking of which, Ginny also has a house guest this week-her Auntie Emie! She's here for a whole week to play with Ginny, Mulan and Mickey!

Ginny is sick :(

Ginny came down with her first cold this week. I think I may have jinxed her because I was just talking with her Auntie Jessica on Sunday about how she hadn't been sick yet. Low and behold, she came down with the cold Sunday night. I don't even know where it came from-no one at daycare is sick, Darwin and I have not been sick, and no one we have seen recently was noticeably sick. Fortunately, she hasn't had a fever. She is congested, coughing and has a runny nose, which has made sleeping at night a little more problematic (although day care tells me she is fine during the day-normal except for the congestion). Anyway, hopefully she is getting over it and will be back to her perky self!

BTW-I think she is technically creeping/crawling. During tummy time, she can wiggle her way forward to the other side of the blanket (but it takes a while, it is not a noticeable movement).

That's How V Rolls! (Part 2)

Last night, for the first time, Ginny rolled from her back onto her tummy! Okay, I have to admit, I wasn't there for the first time. She had been trying to do it for about a week now, and I could tell she was getting close, so when I dropped her off at day care yesterday, I gave her a little pep talk, but begged her to wait until she was at home before she completed the roll.

The talk must have worked since she decided to complete the roll yesterday, but she waited until she was home with her Daddy. Darwin even happened to have the video camera rolling at the time (although he was filming Mulan's destruction when she rolled onto her tummy). She did it again right after I got home (but, alas, I had my back to her, putting her bottles away, and missed it!). After that, I couldn't take my eyes off of her, and she rolled for me too!

Now, she can roll both ways, and could (theoretically) roll around the entire house to get around!

Ginny Loves Theme Parks!

Here's some pix from Ginny's third visit to Disneyland. She rode Snow White and the train for the first time. She's becoming a very knowledgeable Disneyland commuter. She knew to get off at the ToonTown station to visit Minnie. But she got tired and fell asleep just as Minnie got to her house.


Ginny also visited Seaworld again. She really loved looking at all the colorful fish and got surprised by a sea-turtle that swam past her. I bet she's going to grow up knowing that fish are friends and food!

Legacy 2008

I haven't posted in awhile and before too much more time passes I should take the opportunity to inform you all that I was the official Legacy champion this year. When I was growing up me and the other guys in the neighborhood would compete in a tournament dubbed Legacy by splitting off into two teams and playing a game of basketball. That led to Legacy Mario Kart and other events. Its been a few years since we got enough of us together to do the tournament. This year most of us were able to reunite and compete in Legacy Wii Bowling. I survived the preliminary rounds and ultimately won the tournament. Here are some pix so you can bask in the awesomeness.

One Year Anniversary

Today is the one year anniversary...of what you ask? It was one year ago today that Darwin and I found out that we were pregnant. I remember it clearly (well, as clear as I can remember things now a days...most days, I can't seem to remember whether or not I closed the garage door when leaving in the morning...but I digress). It was one of many pregnancy tests taken over the months. Although I was late, I figured it would be like every other month with a negative test. But, we stuck with our ritual and waited the 5 minutes for the test to process and walked into the bathroom together. For the first time, there was a second pink line. I was so confused and didn't want to get my hopes up, so I dug out the directions to make sure it meant what I hoped it meant. We were pregnant! I was so excited, but surprisingly did not cry (although I tend to cry at the drop of a dime, I haven't cried at major life events where you would expect me to cry, like our wedding). I think Darwin was excited too, but to be honest, I don't remember his reaction-Darwin, do you care to comment and add to this? I called to get my doctor's appointment right away (although they didn't see me for three more weeks).

Even more difficult-we didn't tell anyone (which you know was killing me inside). We didn't even tell our parents and siblings for almost two weeks. Our works didn't find out until after the first doctor's appointment. And the rest of our family and friends didn't find out until we were through the first trimester. Whew! That is probably the biggest secret I have ever kept.

Anyway, as you know by now, all is well that end's well, and our little OP (I don't remember the exact date we coined that term, but it was pretty early on) was born happy and healthy almost 9 months after we found out we were pregnant. And for some reason, I didn't cry then either.
