Well, Mickey and Mulan have been attending doggie school for three weeks now and are half way through their course. They are making magnificent progress. Mickey, of coure, is the star of his class (except when he's a little testy and snaps at the other dogs that jump on him). Mulan is learning a lot and can successfully obey all of her commands thus far with some positive, ahem, food, reinforcement.
On the home front, our doggie corral has worked nicely so that most of our prized possessions remain untouched. Mulan does not have much to destroy now, so she has resorted to moving and/or chewing the backyard's welcome mat and the rug that sat inside the doggie door. I also discovered that yesterday, she chewed a hole through the screen door (thank goodness the screen door was already broken and we needed to buy a new one, so no loss there).
The worst damage has been our poor verticals that cover our sliding door. Half of vertical #1 met its demise this week. Our verticals are now sprayed with yucky bitter apple spray (unless Darwin accidentally used the wrong bottle, then the verticals will smell like sugar cookies-and we'd be in big trouble!)
On the bright side, we have not had any more couches or any valuable items destroyed. I call that progress.
